[NOTE: FoI to CYC Response: Hawthorn Terrace was resurfaced between 6th September and 20th September 2019. ...The date the cushions were installed - between 6th September and 20th September 2019, as part of the resurfacing scheme. Where did the money come from for each of 1, 2 and 3? – Highway maintenance budget." [Image taken 11.11.21] Hawthorn Terrace, New Earswick, York. Speed cushions do not slow most motorists. Vehicles of all sizes (including a mini - see: #175741 can simply straddle them). By contrast they hugely impact on people on cycles - constraining our choice of road position. They can be a physical and psychological barrier for people on trikes as they make the cycle unstable. These speed cushions are new. (See NOTE.) Streetview does not show any indication they replaced previous damaged cushions. They were installed after LTN1/20 (www.gov.uk/government/publications/cycle-infrastructure-design-ltn-120) was published in June 2020.Other image these cushions here today: #175739. Other (replacement) speed cushions nearby today: #175740, #175741, #175742, #175743. Other speed cushions York: #175421 and link. Other image today: #175737.
