[Image taken 25.1.22] Blake Street, York. The minimum space between uprights/supports of Sheffields is 100cm. But this is too little to be practical and comfortable (see: #177859). I think 150cm should be provided within clumps of racks: #177910. Blake Street is in the city centre so people will be coming to shop and likely also carrying dependants. The racks here are 115cm. Better. But the person loading her basket has chosen to stand where there is most space – ie not between her cycle and the other one sharing its space but where there is just one other cycle. Note also where her feet are. There are linking rails. These have an upstand of 2cm. That’s a trip hazard. This cycle also has a rear rack.
