See also www.cyclestreets.net/location/54466/. Cyclists who want to stay on the road where the photographer is standing are prohibited from using the traffic signals, which are for buses only. (The loop detectors reportedly don't detect bikes anyway). Instead, cyclists have to ride on the pavement and make six right-angle turns whilst stopping and pressing the button to cross each lane of traffic on the side-road separately.
