Collision report:

The following anonymized report of sentencing is from 17 July, 2019 - 11:20:

Someone with a name like yours, of a street near where you live, Cambridge, was driving a motor vehicle in the city at around 9.15pm on November 29, 2017.

The person of a similar age to your own turned right out of Sun Street onto Newmarket Road when they struck someone you don't know as they crossed the road.

The person you don't know who had an age very different from your own, and lived somewhere else in Cambridge, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The person with a similar gender as yourself was interviewed at the scene and admitted being responsible but claimed they "just didn't see" the person you didn't know.

They were further voluntarily interviewed in March last year, where they made the same admissions.

They said they turned right at the junction while in first gear and at no point noticed the person you didn't know.

A collision investigation report concluded the person who chose a travel method similar to your own had failed to look adequately before pulling out of the junction and they were later charged with killing the person you didn't know by not doing the travel method well enough.

They pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (July 15) and were handed a 12-month community order, a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work.

They were also disqualified from driving for 18 months.

An investigating official, said: "It's incredibly sad when we have to attend incidents where drivers have made a mistake resulting in tragedy.

"It is vital that people drive in a safe, considerate way in order to prevent awful instances like this occurring in the future.

"We attend these kinds of incidents far too often and many are completely avoidable."
