A pedestrian steps on the anti-pedestrian surface at the recently changed Barton Road junction.

#CamRideHome at recently changed Barton Road junction.

New crossing - someone at the county council really wanted pedestrians to keep left and go right around Lammas Land while cyclists would keep right and take the direct diagonal. This did not survive contact with reality.

New build-out with anti-pedestrian edging

Cycle Lane Closed - cyclists are presumably meant to cross the road and wait at the temporary lights to get through the roadworks. Not very helpful.

9 weeks from the start of April? - it's now the end of June. And this is what they call a fast-track project.

Barton Road: Widening cycleway, narrowing motor traffic lanes.

Cycleway under construction, with space taken from motor traffic.

More Sheffield stands at the new King's College Passivhaus development.

Two decent sets of well spaced Sheffield stands at the new King's College Passivhaus development. I assume there will be secure covered parking as well.

I have no idea how someone managed to drive into that route sign, but it needs straightening.

Cycleway closed for utility works - coming in to Cambridge it's easy to see a route through the bus stop lay-by, but heading out people just go across the muddy grass.

Barton Road cycleway. A banksman guides a lorry into the site of a new development.

An out-of-control motor vehicle has clearly crossed the cycleway here.

Unofficial-looking warning ⚠️ to cyclists to use the right-hand lane.

Surprisingly this delivery driver chose to stop jutting out into the carriageway rather than blocking the cycleway.

Barton Road cycleway half-flooded by a burst water main

I appreciate that these were emergency repairs on a burst water main, but it would have been helpful to leave more space for bikes.

I appreciate that these were emergency repairs on a burst water main, but it would be helpful if road signs could acknowledge non-motorised forms of transport (to which the road was not blocked).

Refurbished student (I presume) house - lots of solar panels and covered cycle parking, right on the Barton Road cycle track. That gravel expanse is pretty ugly, though.

Cyclists getting past a car (X979 AHT) seemingly abandoned across the Barton Road cycle track.

Heavily louvred traffic signals.

One lane still closed on Barton Road an hour and a quarter after it was supposed to have been reopened.

Roadworks on Barton Rd - the left-turn-only sign has not been covered up so legally the only way into Newnham Croft is by turning right into this side road or the next one - but there are no signs to say so. In fact I think cars are able to … [more]

Diversion signs for cars - no mention of the fact that cyclists can simply cross the Barton Rd and head west on the cycle track as normal

Markings for replacement of road markings after resurfacing. As the left-turn-only sign at the Grantchester St junction has not been covered up, the only legal way into Newnham Croft is via the two minor roads to the right, but there's no … [more]

Barton Road closed in one direction for two weeks for totally unnecessary resurfacing - while potholes across Cambridge go unrepaired. Low trench cut across the cycle crossing.
