We're used to signs about cycle parking round the station square, but this seems to be the latest iteration. It would of course be far better if they accepted that not everyone finds the Cyclepoint helpful if they're in hurry to catch a … [more]

[Image taken 18.5.07. B&Q, Newmarket Road, Cambridge. Compare the bike parking at the B&Q (very close to the store, right next to the trolley park, covered) with what the landlord at the Peckham B&Q thought B&Q customers would use: #178870. … [more]

Perhaps the next cycle parking guide needs a sentence or two suggesting that when racks are installed, care should be taken to ensure that people making use of them do not need to wear waders to do so.

Cycle parking at the Trumpington Road P+R. Toast racks like this don't look permanent to me, but I'm guessing these are. Not good enough, if so. They should be covered and more secure to start with.

These two racks are new additions to the bike parking options on Bridge Street.

This looks like a bad translation, which is a shame. It doesn't apply to all the bits of furniture that get used as bike racks on Bridge Street, just the ones there are notices on. ETA: these informal bike stands are being replaced with … [more]

I've not seen these before so they might be quite old, but the advice on them about how to securely lock a bike is good. Slightly ironic that it's a University initiative given how bad some of their bike parking is, sadly.

These look like new bike racks not far from the shops in this area.

These look like new bike racks not far from the University's Student Services office. (Entrance from Bene't Street nicely opened up here.)

Temporary bike racks. Some cycle parking has been moved to accommodate the barriers that are being installed. Previously, there was blue badge parking here. See also #112685

Temporary bike racks. Some have been moved to accommodate the barriers going in. These appear to be bolted into the tarmac.

Bike racks replacing what was car parking space. That'll do.

New bike racks carefully positioned in a spot that cars have used for parking.

Good to see bike racks back in this location though I still believe Sheffield stands would have been better.

So the take away from this is don't go away for 8 or more days...

Not a great photo but it shows the cycle parking for the North Pole ice rink. In case it isn't clear, there are two pairs of four racks (32 spaces, if my maths is right) either side of the matting.

New bike racks in front of Iceland (and Aldi when it opens again on or around 22nd Sept.)

I hadn't realised there was any decent cycle parking in this part of the Sidgwick site but there's a cluster of 5 or 6 trees with racks placed round them behind the Little Hall. Things would be even better if they took out the wheel benders … [more]

The seven new bike racks on Quayside/Bridge Street. It could still do with more. On the plus side, at least they used Sheffield stands.

Steps really? In a purpose designed cycle park? Are there steps on the ramps for the car parking? Being serious, this is an irritation but doesn't really detract from what is otherwise a pretty good facility. I haven't come across any … [more]

Two storey racks They seem better quality and more robust than the previous racks in the temporary cycle park. The bottom tier are awkward to use for tall people like me but the top tier seem fine. There are Sheffield stands too for … [more]

Not wholly convinced by 'high capacity' racks like this but still, bike racks.

Installing cycle parking in undercroft of new building in West Cambridge. A-frames: good for additional places to lock drop-frame and small bikes. Look a little squashed, though, but hard to tell from behind a fence at the moment.

Row of Sheffield stands out side 'Chestnut House' as the student accommodation on the Texaco garage site is called. There's another row further up Histon Road. I think the secure cycle parking is, or will be, round the corner. (Sorry it's a … [more]

Good to see some proper bike racks here now, and a decent number of them too.

New bike racks at the new (but not opened yet) Robinson College seminar building, Crausaz Wordsworth.

Cycle parking for the student accommodation near the station. I assume it's for visitors since there is secure parking too. There's more across the road.

Cycle parking for the materials science and metallurgy building. Covered from worst of weather, but overlooked by offices. Sheffield stands: flexible design, not too close together Secure: behind a number-code pad (although door had been … [more]

I think this highlights a need for some secure cycle parking to be installed in this area.

Eight new bike racks in Trumpington Street with a dropped kerb for wheelchair users in the middle which is why they are more spaced out than usual. See also #61808

High capacity stands, but they been installed very wide apart. This seems to remove the benefit of high capacity stands - why not just have Sheffield stands in the same position, which are also more flexible, and accommodate more different … [more]

Extra cycle racks installed in Sainsbury's car park. See also #59124

40 (I think) extra spaces for bikes in Sainsbury's car park. The fact that they're prepared to give up some car parking spaces is a good thing, I think.

Ross Street Community Centre cycle parking used to be excellent (see #28875) but after consultation with users they decided to replace the racks with these wheel benders so people could park their bikes closer to the centre.

Construction of temporary bike racks on the New Museums site while building work is ongoing.

New sign on chain across King's College entrance. It suggests that more cycle parking is needed in the area.

This look like a good place to put some on street cycle parking. The pavement appears to be wide enough and the building will be used by students again. Back in 2000 there were some awful wheelbenders along here: see #1979.

Notice on the railings round All Saints Garden. See #44313 too.

While it's good to see lots of bikes here, there is no way for them to be locked securely. With proper stands this could be so much better.

The cycle parking at Wolfson Court leaves much to be desired. While it's good to see lots of bikes, there is no way to lock them securely.

The racks here are badly positioned so that in order to park securely, it can be necessary to lift your bike over into position.

The extent of cycle parking provision at Cambridge Rugby Football Club.

Cute and tiny little bicycle locked to a lamppost. Perhaps we need mini sheffield stands for mini bicycles?
