The sign says that there have been bike thefts recently, with locks being cut. Part of the problem is these dreadful cycle racks that make it very difficult to secure a bike properly.

Concrete slots - the most dreaded form of cycle parking. But at least here there is a wall chain - presumably put there at some point to provide an anchor for bikes. All the bikes in this area are parked in the courtyard. See #56943.

This primitive cycle parking has been designed to protect the wall. All the bicycle parking has since been cleared from this area as a result of the restoration of the divinity building.
