Collapsing ironwork, Cambridge

Pothole on the Cambridge inner ring road.

It's a shock coming back from Denmark and the Netherlands to find the appalling state of the roads in Cambridge.

Pothole

One problem with forcing motor vehicles onto one bit of the carriageway is that it needs more maintenance.

Road surface collapsing where heavy vehicles accelerate away from the junction.

Collapsing utility repairs in Cambridge

Potholes on Mill Lane - the Covid-19 lockdown might be a good time to fix a few holes?

After the path has been "fixed"... still full of water filled potholes

After the path has been "fixed" again... still a crater field

Very dangerous potholes as usual on Station Road. [Fairly slapdash repair by the morning of Monday 16/3/20 - the end of Pothole Watch Week]

The cost of poorly maintained cycling infrastructure... Frame snapped in two at the bottom bracket, from the battering it receives from Newnham's potholes.

Hills Road is falling apart again.

Lensfield Road is always in terrible condition.

I've pretty much given up reporting potholes like these, but maybe I'll try again.

Lensfield Road is falling apart, as usual, with gravel being thrown up.

I've more or less given up reporting potholes in Cambridge, but this one is bad, with loose stones being thrown around. In addition, if a driver knocked someone down on the zebra crossing they'd get away with it, as any competent lawyer wou ... [more]

The Grantchester Meadows path just doesn't get any better. This is the condition after the County Council have allegedly "fixed" it. All it needs is a tarmac path between the end of the surfaced road to the start of the surfaced path. I am ... [more]

Nasty new pothole next to the repair done in March (#97265) - couldn't they just fix the whole stretch of road?

Collapsing trench and pothole on Hills Road, Cambridge

Potholes on the Cambridge University Library access road.

I reported a pothole here in 2016 (#85820). It's got worse. Much worse.

More flooded potholes on Station Road, Cambridge, not marked up for repair...

Well, at least it's been marked up for repair, but I suppose it can't be done until it's dried out.

This pothole has got much worse in the last day or two (but the whole of Station Road is awful).

Potholes down the middle of Sidgwick Avenue

Not just potholes, but the 20mph markings have virtually vanished too. Cambridge's roads are in a terrible state.

I'd heard the new surface on Hills Road was falling apart, but didn't think it would be so bad.

Awful road surface on Kingston St, a busy cycle route.

Station Road will be awful until redevelopment is finished (if ever), but this pothole does need fixing.

Immediately south of where it was rebuilt, Tenison Avenue is now crumbling (like the rest of Cambridge).

Coronation Street is an important cycle route that the county refuses to maintain.

It's reappeared... it would be nice if Queen's Road could be repaired properly.

Just one of the potholes dotting Bridge Street which was resurfaced not that long ago. They are all in the middle of the road and more are appearing. (It has been reported.)

Rather than fix this pothole Cambridgeshire Council just painted a double yellow line through it.

I don't know what's happening beneath the south end of Grange Road, but the surface is collapsing in several places.

The road is crumbling simultaneously around all the ironwork on Regent St - there's a whole succession of them like this.

Potholes, Fulboooke Road

Large pothole on Selwyn Road, Cambridge

I recently spent ten days cycling the length of Taiwan and saw exactly one patch of bad road surface. Meanwhile in Cambridge all the roads are falling apart - this is the inner ring road, which really isn't safe for cycling in places.

Very nasty cycle trap pothole on Babraham Road.

Repainted, but the surface is still breaking up just where it causes problems for cyclists turning left.

This is one of the worst examples of bodged road repairs I've ever seen - and it seems to be a permanent feature now on NCN route 11.

Subsidence has opened a long crack on this cycleway near the M11. There are temporary signs warning of the uneven surface.

Potholes, as everywhere in Cambridge these days.

Cambridge's inner ring road is crumbling.

There's a series of potholes along Selwyn Road, just where contraflow cyclists will hit them if there's a car heading west.

Station Road, Cambridge, is falling apart.

This is the only point where cyclists can cross the sluice without an almighty thump - and it's collapsing!

No specific potholes, but the whole of Coronation Street (an important cycle route from Cambridge station) is in a dreadful state.

This part of Cambridge will presumably have collapsing roads until the station-area redevelopment is complete, and probably longer.
