Great work - putting 20mph signs where they're always obscured by parked cars.

No idea what this sign is about

Southbound cycle lane through the Histon Road roadworks - the yellow signs now say 'Reading this whilst driving a Motor Vehicle? You're driving ILLEGALLY the wrong way. CCTV in operation. You have been REPORTED'

Cambridge Retail Park Advisory sign suggests that cyclists stick to that narrow lane. "Cyclists use cycle lane only" and there's a 5 mph sign.

The Silver Street bus gate is now operational full time in both directions - so Cambridgeshire County Council has closed the left-turn lane on Queen's Road. So cyclists (who are allowed to turn left) are forced into what is now a single nar ... [more]

The green sign does give a positive 'Road Open' message.

Here we go again... the point of the modal filter is that Bateman St is not closed, it is very much open except at one point to motor vehicles - but Cambridgeshire's highways department can't be expected to grasp that.

Right turns into Devonshire Road permitted, as a result of the bridge change - the old sign was removed.

Cyclists Beware DO NOT UNDERTAKE Sign that tries to place the responsibility for the turning lorries on the cyclists.

A badly placed sign put in the middle of the footway where it will be an obstruction to pedestrians. It could easily have been put against the low wall on the left edge. Reported at: https://highwaysreporting.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/?id=0 ... [more]

A routinely ignored No access sign.

Bus lane warning sign at the left edge of the footway.

The new 'Dutch-style' Fendon Road roundabout - the yellow-and-black sign should say clearly 'Drivers Give Way etc' and not be off to the left of the cycle and pedestrian sections.

Approaching the new 'Dutch-style' Fendon Road roundabout.

I assume this refers only to cyclists wanting to cross to Brooklands Avenue - there's no reason not to continue riding on the shared-use to the right.

No left turn except cycles at the junction with Mill Road at the foot of the bridge.

Mill Road bridge

Mill Road bridge

Mill Road bridge, ironic poster: I WANNA DRIVE MAH BRUM BRUM and there's a picture of a crying infant with text: Pedestrian safety? Don't care Environment? Don't care Cyclist safety? Don't care Kids' safety? Don't care Cafes ... [more]

No Overtaking Cyclists Through Works sign - good. Van stopped just before the temporary lights - less good.

Histon Road works - 'except cycles' signs now attached to the Road Closed signs.

After a week, the contraflow cycle lane through the Histon Road roadworks is still marked as Road Closed. Why does the county council always fail to take cycling seriously?

Road Closed for sinkhole repairs - but of course (on Sunday morning) pedestrians and cyclists are actually passing freely.

A new path has been added and the sign has been moved aside, but it still seems odd - if there is a problem, why not paint Give Way markings for road traffic?

Cambridgeshire County Council has closed Mill Road at the railway bridge except to buses, cycles and pedestrians - and then puts up these signs which totally ignore buses, cycles and pedestrians.... And it's not a one-off, they did the sam ... [more]

Awful signage - the street is open. Need to make clear that businesses are open.

Awful signage - the street is open. Need to make clear that businesses are open.

The usual Road Closed sign - and indeed the footway to the left is closed, but access has been provided to the right for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

The usual Road Closed sign - but provision has been made for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

There will be roadworks on Histon Road for the next year - as promised there is a contraflow (southbound) cycleway, but all the signs ignore the existence of cyclists.

There will be roadworks on Histon Road for the next year - as promised there is a contraflow (southbound) cycleway, but all the signs ignore the existence of cyclists.

There will be roadworks on Histon Road for the next year - this road sign wrongly shows that traffic can't turn in to Warwick Road or Gilbert Road.

There will be roadworks on Histon Road for the next year - as promised there is a contraflow (southbound) cycleway, but all the signs ignore the existence of cyclists.

No Parking - do not block the access from this new development to Midsummer Common

Not immediately clear why they've done this now, but this section of Bridge Street is two way for traffic. Might be a surprise for some on bikes.

Magdelene Bridge is one-way for pedestrians post-covid-19 - cyclists beware pedestrians changing sides.

Start of cycle path

Warning of closure of this busy section of shared use foot and cycleway.

Contra flow cycling affirmed by this sign, but see #137443.

Shared-Use sign - but at the junction with Shelford Road (where the bus is) there's an End of Cycle Route sign. Typical.

CYCLE LANE SUSPENDED AHEAD I can’t see it myself.

Another pointless sign - there's no reason for the cycleway not to continue to the end of the road.

Another day another stupid Cyclists Dismount sign - some lawyer must think it's logical to reach a cycleway and dismount, but no-one else will.

Strange to install steelwork that's pretty useless except for cycle parking, and then plaster No Cycling stickers on them.

Sign reads: To help support social distancing PLEASE USE THE PAVEMENT OPPOSITE TO CROSS THE BRIDGE

A totally blank washed-out piece of paper - what can it mean?

Segregated cycle/foot route, no motor cycles

Eddington fantasy

A shared-use sign has been misused to warn drivers that there may be cyclists and pedestrians around the corner at Ridley Hall

Relaxation of camera enforcement during lockdown.

Latham Road, Cambridge

It's now April and we're in the Covid-19 lockdown, but some resurfacing has been done.

Good practice at the Fendon Road roundabout roadworks

Thankfully Cambridge City Council has decided to leave the King's Parade security barrier open for the duration of the Covid-19 lockdown - to avoid impeding emergency services.

Nonsense sign at the exit from Eddington - there are shared-use routes left and right beside Madingley Road and also on the far side into the university's West Cambridge site.

Unofficial-looking warning ⚠️ to cyclists to use the right-hand lane.

This looks like a bad translation, which is a shame. It doesn't apply to all the bits of furniture that get used as bike racks on Bridge Street, just the ones there are notices on. ETA: these informal bike stands are being replaced with ... [more]

Bizarre signage where a railing has been removed.

I've not seen these before so they might be quite old, but the advice on them about how to securely lock a bike is good. Slightly ironic that it's a University initiative given how bad some of their bike parking is, sadly.

Caution - Toad in Road! We've installed these signs in Stanley Rd (with thanks to @CambsCC) aiming to reduce road mortalities of toads heading to their nearby breeding pond in Feb/March. Want to help local amphibians and reptiles? See @Cand ... [more]

No Entry Except Buses - no mention of bikes at this rising bollard, but thankfully they're using it anyway.

Transition: the introduction of a barrier on King’s Parade, Cambridge, means that all motor traffic is excluded between 9:30am and 7pm daily.

It's December 28th. Seems like they've scheduled a whole lot of work for December 30th-31st!

Beware of cyclists & edestrians and keep an eye out for any P you might see.

Another Cyclists Dismount sign on Station Road, Cambridge - not currently operational, of course.

No idea what this sign is doing here - as the painted marking makes clear, this is a shared-use cycle route.

The vast majority of cyclists wait at red lights legally.

If cyclists could be encouraged to go via the private Latham Close it might do something to alleviate the notorious peak cycle jams at the Brooklands Avenue/Trumpington Road crossing.

If an Except Cyclists plate could be added here (via the private Latham Close) it might do something to alleviate the notorious peak cycle jams at the Brooklands Avenue/Trumpington Road crossing.

Cyclists Dismount sign - presumably because cars might be moving....

There's a telecoms van beyond the End of Road Works sign, but no reason for this stretch of cycle lane to be closed.

Good practice - but it was hard to see why the cycle lane had to be closed.

The start of the contraflow lane on St Barnabas Road is blocked, but I'm sure most cyclists are ignoring the No Right Turns sign.

Predictably, there's no indication that Mill Road might be open for cycling - the usually motor vehicle-obsessed thinking.

A Tweed Run number out in the wild.

Unofficial looking 20mph sign in Devonshire Road.

Cyclists should dismount here, to reach the stands visible in the background - obviously, because that's better than car drivers having to pay attention.

An unofficial looking sign has recently appeared that reads 20mph please slow down. Possibly related to #104097?

No motor vehicles as a rule - but there's still a reminder to look out for cyclists and joggers

Warning signs about the combined cycle and pedestrian crossing.

'This cycle rack is to be deliberately left empty' ?

Maybe somebody has noticed that having an unprotected right turn on NCN route 11 right before a roundabout is very dangerous.

At the CamCycle AGM.. there was nothing wrong with this bike rack, but if someone contacts the council someone else has to put a notice on it until someone who's qualified comes out to give it the all-clear...

New white lines and safety warning after a cyclist was killed by a guided bus near here.

Yet another pointless End of Cycle Route sign where the segregated cycleway switches to shared-use provision.

Blazing Saddles has closed, but offers a mobile service instead.

Unofficial 20 mph signs have been screwed to a telegraph pole and a tree on Thoday Street outside the pub. Is it related to #107294 I wonder?

This exception for cycling is great, but the necessary changes have not yet been implemented on Hemingford Road.

Mill Road, no right turn. (The except cycles sign is for the no entry into Kingston Street.)

NO IDLING Turn off your engine and protect the environment At least the stupid bollard at #4835 is gone.

Plans afoot to remove abandoned bikes like those at #102763. https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/cycling

This sign sums up how CyclePoint is supposed to work. https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/cycling

Non highways compliant signs near a private school.

St Faith’s is a school. If they want to introduce a one-way system they should apply to Cambridgeshire Highway Authority and that will be considered by the democratic process.

About an hour after I took the photo #102588 here the poster has been edited, changing shit to chic: Make Romsey Chic again

Anti ‘gentrification’ poster which shows the fading yarn bombed railings on Mill Road bridge with text overlaid: Make Romsey Shit again but see #102589.
