The wheel holding devices on these racks have survived longer than similar racks like #146044 in the city. Maybe these are by a different manufacturer.

155052Photo #155052Mock-up of a idea to improve access to the footway cycle parking.

Motor vehicles often park right up or overhang the buildout and this creates problems of access to our front door as these other photos show: #6501 and #106944.

The ramp would be something like the one at Trumpington Street #155073 or another example is Marmora Road where there's a dropped kerb within the build-out at #155071.

The marked parking bay is 6.5 metres long, which means that a ramp 1.5 metres wide could be sited here and still leave enough length for a standard car parking space of 5 metres.

At this moment the engineers were waiting for the all-clear from Network Rail to confirm that the bridge could be moved into place as it is quite close to their bridge. I think power to the overhead lines was cut, just in case there was a calamity, which thankfully did not happen.
